June 27, 2019 – Norris, Perné & French (NPF) is pleased to announce it has been named to the 2019 edition of the Financial Times 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs). The list recognizes top independent RIA firms from across the U.S.
This is the sixth annual FT 300 list, produced independently by the Financial Times in collaboration with Ignites Research, a subsidiary of the Financial Times that provides business intelligence on the asset management industry. The Financial Times is an international business newspaper headquartered in London with over five million readers.
RIA firms applied for consideration, having met a minimum set of criteria. Applicants were then graded on six factors: assets under management (AUM); AUM growth rate; years in existence; advanced industry credentials of the firm’s advisers; online accessibility; and compliance records. There are no fees or other considerations required of RIAs that apply for the FT 300.
The final FT 300 represents an impressive cohort of elite RIA firms, as the “average” practice in this year’s list has been in existence for over 22 years and manages $4.6 billion in assets. The FT 300 Top RIAs hail from 37 states.
Many financial advisers are not allowed to apply to be included in the ranking, because they are too small, or they are not Registered Investment Advisers. NPF qualified to apply for this list because of its size (over $1.5 billion of assets under management), its history (serving local families since 1933), its clients (most clients are local families), and its independence (locally-owned and not a part of a broker or bank).
For all the firms that applied, the Financial Times picked the Top 300 using these criteria:
- Industry certifications of staff: NPF is one of the most-credentialed firms in the area, with seven employees who have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, two with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, and two with the Certified Private Wealth Adviser (CPWA) designation.
- Years the firm has been in existence: NPF is one of the oldest investment advisers in the country – serving clients since 1933.
- Online accessibility: Clear & concise – take a look at your convenience.
- SEC compliance report
- Assets under management: Over $1.5 billion of assets under management!
- Growth in assets under management: NPF has grown an average of 9.4% per year over the past 10 years.
NPF partner Kurt Arvidson said, “Most of all, this listing is an honor for our team, and recognizes the work we do to serve our clients consistently with a high level of service.”
The FT 300 is one in series of rankings of top advisers by the Financial Times, including the FT 401 (DC retirement plan advisers) and the FT 400 (broker-dealer advisers).
Disclosure: The Financial Times 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers is an independent listing produced annually by the Financial Times (June 2019). The FT 300 is based on data gathered from RIA firms, regulatory disclosures, and the FT’s research. The listing reflected each practice’s performance in six primary areas: assets under management, asset growth, compliance record, years in existence, credentials and online accessibility. This award does not evaluate the quality of services provided to clients and is not indicative of the practice’s future performance. Neither the RIA firms nor their employees pay a fee to The Financial Times in exchange for inclusion in the FT 300.
