As NPF’s client base multiplies, we continue to seek talented professionals who will strengthen and deepen our competencies in key areas. In her new role, Marilee will further enhance our stock-selection process to help NPF clients achieve quality, long-term portfolio growth. “I love the intellectual challenge of securities analysis and portfolio management,” she says. “I come in every day and feel like a kid in a candy store.”
Marilee will also serve as part of NPF’s management team, helping to chart the firm’s growth as a premier investment management resource.
Marilee comes to NPF from a 17-year career with a Kalamazoo-based Registered Investment Advisory firm, where she served as a Partner for the last decade. Prior to that, she worked at First of America Investment Corporation and earned an MBA from Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University.
An investment career was not Marilee’s first ambition. She earned a BA in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy from James Madison College at Michigan State University, laying the groundwork for a career in law. But undergraduate work in the fields of estate planning and business valuation ultimately led her to her true passion—helping people build and preserve their wealth. That passion is a perfect fit for NPF’s mission.
Throughout her career, Marilee has been hyper-cognizant of investing’s human dimension. “What we do seriously impacts the quality of life of our clients and their families. That’s what really drives me—making authentic connections with people so I can help them achieve
Marilee believes this personal approach is all too rare in investment management, so she’s grateful that it’s a defining feature of NPF. “The NPF philosophy and process align perfectly with my values,” she says. “I’m thrilled to be here.”
NPF’s team approach was a key factor in Marilee’s decision to join Grand Rapids’ longest-standing privately owned investment management firm.
“Many investment companies in this industry are collections of individuals who come together as a firm, but still operate largely independently,” she says. “NPF is different—it’s a cohesive team of people that motivate and support each other. It really is a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.”
The NPF team now includes 16 people, including six portfolio managers, two research analysts and a host of client services and operations professionals. Together, they manage more than $1.1 billion of assets for upwards of 400 clients.
Please join the team in welcoming Marilee to the firm. We invite you to take the opportunity to meet her soon.
