Norris, Perné & French (NPF) is proud to announce the promotion of Daniel J. Lupo to the position of Portfolio Manager. Dan joined NPF as a Research Analyst in October 2012 and he assumed his new duties in July 2016.
“My passion is in the investment selection process,” says Dan. “But I also like working with people to help them realize their financial goals. As a Portfolio Manager, I get the best of both worlds—I’m able to draw on my research experience to help clients better understand the investment strategies that address their unique needs.”
Dan will continue to be actively involved in research and will maintain his role as manager of NPF’s Blue Chip Income Strategy. “While it’s always been my ambition to be a Portfolio Manager, I could never give up the investment analysis aspect of the business.”
As a four-year NPF staffer, Dan is firmly grounded in the investment philosophy that sets the firm apart. “Active management of individual stocks and bonds is rare, especially in Grand Rapids,” he explains. “It’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work here. And it’s key to the firm’s emphasis on long-term, highquality investing.”
The firm’s commitment to community also resonates with Dan. He is particularly interested in education and was instrumental in our recent endowment of the Norris, Perné & French Finance Pathway Scholarship at Grand Valley State University. He also regularly speaks to the school’s various finance classes.
Dan came to NPF after stints with RDV Corporation, the private investment and financial firm serving the Richard M. DeVos family; EquaTerra, a global management consulting firm; and West Michigan-based Mercantile Bank. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Grand Valley State University, where he was president of the investment club, and he has achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Talent Rises to the Top
Dan’s promotion is a result of the firm’s commitment to recruiting and retaining top talent. He became a Portfolio Manager in July alongside Glenn Hefner, who joined NPF after seven years as a Portfolio Manager with Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund.
This combination of internal advancement and external hiring helps position NPF and its clients for a bright tomorrow. It brings valuable new perspectives to our portfolio management process while enhancing our unique team approach to investment counsel.
As of November 2016, our team comprises 16 people, including 8 portfolio managers, 1 research analyst, and a host of client services and operations professionals. Together, they manage over $1.3 billion of assets for more than 450 clients.
Please join the team in congratulating Dan on his well-earned promotion.
