We are pleased to introduce you to Glenn Hefner, the newest member of the Norris, Perné & French (NPF) team. Glenn joined the firm in August 2016 as Portfolio Manager.
As NPF grows and diversifies its investment opportunities, we continue to make strategic talent acquisitions that complement and extend our strengths. Glenn’s institutional investment experience and international perspective will benefit our company and our clients in many ways.
Glenn most recently spent seven years in the Middle East as Head of Equity Opportunities – Americas and Senior Portfolio Manager for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). There, he managed the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s direct equity investments into the United States and Latin America. Prior to that, he was based in Milan, Italy for seven years, managing U.S. equity funds as Senior Portfolio Manager for Ras Asset Management, an institutional investment firm, and Capitalia, an Italian banking group. He launched his career working as an Equity Analyst in St. Louis.
After nearly two decades of buying and selling stocks for institutional investors, “I’m really looking forward to working face to face with NPF clients and helping them achieve their individual goals,” he says. “My philosophy fits perfectly with the NPF approach—I believe in investing for the long-term, using high-quality growth vehicles.”
He also believes in following your heart, as he did when he moved to Europe for his high school sweetheart, Silvia, an Italian exchange student. The couple met up again at the school’s 10-year reunion—and one year later, Glenn moved to Italy to be with his future wife.
“I tend to tell people to follow their heart, in life and investing. Do all your due diligence—then do what feels right.”
A graduate of the University of Illinois (BS-Finance) and Thunderbird School of Global Management (MBA-International Business), Glenn was born in Grand Rapids and is thrilled to be back here with his wife and two daughters.
The Team Approach
Like many members of the NPF team, Glenn developed an interest in finance at an early age. “I used to sit on my dad’s lap on weekends while he read the Wall Street Journal,” he recalls. “Dad was a lawyer and a bit of a workaholic, so that time together was precious.”
It also impressed upon Glenn the value of interaction—sharing ideas, debating opinions, brainstorming alternatives. That’s something he looks forward to at NPF.
“There’s a great team of professionals here, all at the top of their game, and I look forward to us supporting and bettering each other.”
The NPF team comprises 16 people, including 8 portfolio managers, 1 research analyst, and a host of client services and operations professionals. Together, they manage over $1.3 billion of assets for more than 450 clients.
Please join the team in welcoming Glenn!
