Tyler is an honors graduate of Calvin College. He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2017, and his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 2019. Prior to joining NPF in 2014, he worked with Mercantile Bank of Michigan as a commercial credit analyst and with Blackford Capital as an analyst.

What is the CFA Designation?

The Chartered Financial Analyst designation represents the gold standard in advanced investment analysis and portfolio management, accompanied with a strict emphasis in ethical practice.  To earn the CFA Charter, candidates must pass three six-hour exams, have obtained a Bachelor's degree, have four years of qualified work experience, and agree to adhere to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification represents rigorous professional standards in the practice of financial planning, which includes cash flow analysis, planning for insurance, investments, taxes, retirement, and estate needs.  The CFP® certification requires a commitment to rigorous ethical standards outlined in the CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, which are based on the principles of honesty, integrity, competence, and diligence.
